News From Sri Lanka



September 5, 2006 - Colombo, Sri Lanka - Assalamualaikum w.b.t.

1. Up to this moment, GPM volunteers is doing very well in terms of their health and suppport that they received from MFCD, the local partner.

2. After the visit with Her Excellency of High Commission of Malaysia yesterday, she agreed to assist the volunteers through all means that she has in order to release the medicine and medical equipments that are still stucked in the airport.

3. Insya Allah today all the items will be cleared off and brought over to Trincomalee, the affected area of the conflict between the Government forces and LTTE.

4. Generally, MFCD has done very well in managing the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in terms of medication, camps, sanitation and food as well as spiritual fulfillment. One instance during a visit to field hospital in Kantale area, patients doesn't want to go to this hospital as it was managed by Christian foreigners; and MFCD has catered all the medical needs at their 6 welfare centres (term used replacing refugees camp) including the awareness of Christian missionary through medical assistance.
